OUR STORY
In 1976, The Bagel Peddler opened in Somerset NJ with a recipe and an idea – to wholesale delicious Jersey bagels to local restaurants, hotels and institutions. Sales took off quickly and within months the bakery was running at full capacity and bags of fresh bagels were being trucked out the back door every morning before sunrise.
In the early 90’s, ownership took over the adjacent storefront to expand retail operations. A large flat top grill was installed for hot sandwich making and it wasn’t long before Rutgers Students were flocking to ‘The Peddler’ on Saturday & Sunday mornings to fuel up after long nights out in New Brunswick.
Seeing the opportunity for expansion, entrepreneur Spencer Peller purchased the business in 2019 and converted the store on Easton Ave to the first-ever Fast Bagel. Word spread rapidly and Fast Bagel has now become THE spot for bagels in the area. The fun is just getting started though – a second Fast Bagel in Woodbridge off 171 US-1 South just opened!
